There isn’t a formal process to “test” if a therapist is right for you, rather it’s more of a personal connection with someone you can be open and comfortable with. It really comes down to a combination of style, personal characteristics and clinical skills. Scheduling an initial consultation is the best way to find out if we’re a good match. If I believe that you are better served by another professional, I will offer you some referral options.

I practice in the San Ramon Valley area where I see clients in-person. I also offer virtual sessions for clients throughout California.

Many clients prefer online sessions because of how convenient, easy, accessible and time efficient it is. I use a secure and confidential online portal (HIPPA compliant) to meet with clients. You will receive a link prior to your appointment to join. All you need is a device and a private space from anywhere in California! That’s the beauty of telehealth.

At this time I offer services through private pay; however, if you have out-of-network benefits, you may be able to get reimbursed for services. I can offer you a superbill to submit to your insurance company or help you get connected to a third party provider to assist with the claims process if you’re eligible. Although plans and coverage varies (you should check your specific plan), most clients are able to recuperate anywhere between 50%-80% of the cost.

This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other in a casual and laid back format (no need to stress there!). We will review intake paperwork and talk more about what brought you in, your goals and how I can support you. By the end of the session you will leave with a clear treatment plan and a sense of what our work will look like moving forward.

The length of time varies for each client and largely depends on your treatment goals, needs, complexity of issues and the unique circumstances you’re navigating. Some clients only need to be in therapy for a short period of time to address specific issues, while others benefit from a long-term and deeper approach. We will routinely assess progress and as things improve, gradually taper off.

It is normal to have questions since this is a highly personal and important step. Scheduling an initial free consultation is the best way to get questions answered and decide if this is what you need. I want clients to feel ready and confident about starting this process. If a service other than therapy is more beneficial, I will do my best to offer you referrals that best suit your needs.
