Groups

While the idea of group therapy can be terrifying at first, people are often surprised by how rewarding this experience can be. Groups are beneficial for many and have been shown to be very effective in treating a variety of mental health concerns like anxiety, depression and trauma. While your individual needs should first be discussed with a professional to determine if groups are appropriate for you; they generally tend to offer many benefits and promote growth.

So why join a group?

Having a sense of community and connecting with others who are struggling with similar issues, often provides support to group members and helps them know they are not alone. Groups can also act as a sounding board and provide helpful perspectives in working through challenges. They offer an excellent opportunity to learn about yourself, develop healthy relationships with others and learn effective coping skills in a collaborative environment. Groups can be a great introduction to therapy as well as complementing the work that is being done in individual sessions.
