Focusing on women’s issues like life transitions, postpartum depression and mood disorders, I provide both short and long term therapy, depending on the client’s needs, complexity of issues and desired goals. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, drawing from some evidence-based models like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), which focus on learning a specific set of skills. I also use process oriented approaches like Narrative Therapy, Attachment Therapy and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
Individual Psychotherapy For Adults
Have you gone through a major life event, like a divorce, separation, pregnancy, move, or career transition? Perhaps, you are struggling with some of the unique challenges that women face around fertility issues, pregnancy loss, parenting, body image problems, work related stressors or unresolved trauma? In my practice, I focus on supporting women with navigating these areas, as well as processing negative feelings of overwhelm, anxiety and distress that can come up as a result. I help women with their growth and healing journey so they can feel confident and find ways to move forward.
I also offer one-on-one therapy for other individuals dealing with common mental health issues like depression, trauma and grief. Through individual therapy, I help clients find reprieve from the various stressors they are experiencing so they can feel less taxed and more empowered.
Adolescents
The teenage years can present various challenges for adolescents as they struggle with knowing and understanding how to fit in and find their place. Teens usually face questions and even pressure around their identity, friendships, academic performance, peer pressure, and bullying, to name a few. This can create a lot of frustration, confusion and even turmoil for both teens and their parents. It can also lead to common problems like becoming withdrawn/depressed, acting out behaviors, poor academic performance and low self-esteem. As a result, conflict arises and parents find themselves at a loss of how to address these problems. Therapy can help! I have extensive experience treating teens with mood disorders, grief, trauma and behavioral problems. I help families find ways to understand the current struggles facing their teens, learn how to support them and find ways to work through these issues together successfully.
Families
Each family system has its unique structure as well as patterns of communication, which might be defined by personalities, parenting style, and family of origin influences. This can often lead to a high stress environment, negative interactions and increased conflict. Family therapy helps bring parents, siblings, and even extended family members into the treatment process to resolve issues related to trauma, divorce, coparenting, grief and many more. My approach to family therapy focuses on teaching you various skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times. I will guide you through the process of exploring how family patterns are being created and maintained, as well as how to create new and healthier patterns that serve your family
